Admissions & Induction

*IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING ADMISSIONS FOR SEPTEMBER 2017*

19th April 2017

We will be offering 30 places at Lowbrook Academy in 2017-18, which is in line with our published PAN figures.  This will take us to full capacity for the academic year ahead.

It remains the school’s ambition to become a two-form entry school, providing additional places for local families.  A shortage of funding, physical space and facilities means that we are currently unable to take 60 pupils in September 2017.

As many people know we have been working in partnership with the local authority to expand the school.  Further negotiations and discussions have recently taken place, with the local authority putting forward a new funding offer.

Our position remains unchanged.  At this stage, we are unable to proceed with Phase II of the Lowbrook Academy Expansion due to a shortfall of funding and key milestone dates for the development scheme have passed.  After in depth discussions and analysis, the Governors voted unanimously to decline the most recent offer.

Whilst we remain committed to becoming a two-form entry school and have an open door for future discussions, we will not compromise the existing education of our pupils by taking on a substantial loan.  Lowbrook Academy prides itself on offering an excellent education to all its pupils.

Lowbrook Academy prides itself on offering an excellent education to all its pupils.

We will be offering 30 places at Lowbrook Academy in 2017-18, which is in line with our published PAN figures.

As many people know we have been working in partnership with the local authority to expand the school to be able to admit 60 children in September 2017.

Sadly, due to a shortage of physical space and facilities required we are unable to take 60 pupils in September 2017 and will be accepting our published PAN of 30 and this will take us to full capacity for the academic year ahead.

Despite every effort, at this stage we are unable to proceed with Phase II of the Lowbrook Academy Expansion due to a considerable shortfall of funding, approximately £750,000.

In conjunction with the Local Authority, an expansion scheme was put together, worked upon and progressed to the planning phases.  However, the initial funding of £1.6 million unfortunately, as predicted, fell well below the amount required to deliver the agreed scheme.

Phase I, which has included remodelling an internal space to create a temporary classroom and the construction of a permanent classroom has gone largely to plan and within the predicted budget.  Whilst you may have noticed the foundations of this building have not been without complications, we have now resolved this issue and look forward to the completion of this classroom and cloakroom facilities by the summer.

The development of Phase I has left a budget of approximately £1.2 million to deliver a scheme with a hall and four classrooms (Phase II).  Our financial estimates clearly demonstrate that this is not possible.

After further negotiations, the Local Authority has subsequently offered to loan the Academy the shortfall amount.  However, after careful consideration and an independent financial affordability review we are not able to take on this debt and progress this scheme in this manner.

Key milestones for completing Phase II and the financial restraints mentioned above now make it untenable to deliver this scheme at this current time.

It has always been the Academy’s intention to meet the needs of our residents and convert to a two-form entry school.  We remain committed to this ambition and will work with all parties to achieve this in the future

Choosing a school for your child is an important decision. We strongly recommend you visit our school and talk to the children and staff before making a decision.

A statutory school place must be applied for on a Common Application Form (CAF). CAF forms should be sent to your address in the September of your child’s 3rd birthday. However, if you do not receive this information you should contact the Local Authority at the Admission Team on 01628 796000.

The published PAN for Lowbrook Academy in 2017-18 is 30.

You can also apply online at the following address

Lowbrook Academy is now the admitting authority, however, the Local Authority administers the CAF process.
